Lauren Conrad's Spring 2008 collection debuted last night and it is all very ready to wear. In fact, I've seen papo photos of Mz Conrad and she is actually wearing some of the stuff. Pretty interesting. Also, most of the outfits have names like "the Audrina dress" or the "Lo top", which is kind of lame, but whatever. Here are my faves:

WaaaaH?!? Why is Wino with Blake Sennet from Rilo Kiley (haha what a coincidence that i'm listening to them now)? Doesn't he know he BELONGS with Jenny? WEll, maybe she's teh one that broke up with him - not sure on the particulars. Either way, Wino and Blake make a good couple. NO complaints, just shock!
It probably seems like i watch loads of TV, but its all online. During the writer's strike, this show came on (probably because there was nothing else) and 7 episodes aired. Now that the strike is over, all the attention is going to the old shows, and I think this one has been cancelled. BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE!!!! The cast includes Lucy Lu and "Rachel" from THE O.C. Its like a version of Sex in the City, but with less sex and more focus on the working-wife. I think it has a lot of feminist undertones, which is awesome. I'm seriously hoping it wasn't cancelled.
I recently heard of this show called "Greek" and I thought it would be completely lame and unrealistic. Its about frats and sororities and the people in them - all the makings for a cheesy show. But I really like it! There's scandal and comedy and a really hot frat boy (leader of one frat - Cappie hahah). Also, lonelygirl15 and Clark (from Superbad) are regulars. Its awesome and there are loads of episodes on alluc. check it out!

Apparently this is the new "Breakfast at Tiffany's", which is one of my favorite movies. I think the 'Tiffany'-blue background gives it away... also another Audrey will be playing the 'Holly Golightly' character. And the little black dress! Very excited about this. Apparently BAT was toned down because Hepburn was unwilling to do certain scenes that were created by Mr. Capote. Now a days an actress has to be up for almost anything, so hopefully the directors don't go the other way and make this film uber dirty...? Anyway, random thought. Should open March/April.
I found lots of books by Arthur Miller (death of a salesman, the cruicible, etc.), john Stienbeck, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Ernest Hemingway. And so it seems that I have a lot of reading to do over spring break, on top of studying for 2 midterms and writing 2 essays. It is really sad that I am spending all this time of LG when i should be working, but I can't help it - i'm in a slump (btw, is that a word?)!

Well, here are some stuff i found that have great design and might last a few times in the dryer (i'm too lazy to actaully hang-dry anything):
Cotton dress ($19.80)
Satin dress ($29.80)
Basimah Pintuck dress (32.80)
Floral embroidered dress ($24.80)
Floral cotton/silk dress ($22.80) - i think it would look way better if you see the dress on a person - it channels Kate Moss IMO
Floral tunic ($19.80)
Cotton tunic ($24.80)
"Chiffon" top ($22.80)
Jeweled chiffon top ($22.80)
Frayed chiffon top ($34.80)
Satin/chiffon tube dress ($29.80) - maybe a formal-dress option?
Jay Godfrey Ombre Tank Dress ($495)
Nanette Lepore Floral Strapless Dress ($325)
Corey Lynn Calter Strapless ($262)
David Meister Floral-Print Charmeuse Dress ($375)
Shoshanna Floral-Print Strapless Dress ($365)
Phoebe Couture Sheath Dress ($300)

Okay, so i am still on the fence about attending this formal, but looking at the spring collections out there, i am completely loving this season's dresses!!! The yellow one is Marc by Marc Jacobs. The other two are by Tracey Reese - while i have never heard of this designer, I found the dresses on eluxury.com, so i know it is good quality. For some reason i liked the bright pink one - its crazy, but it reminds me of teh oscar de la renta dress SJP wore in the last season of Sex in the City. I also found these great platform shoes - very Chloe.

Shoes are Pedro Garcia ($425). As I learned from Victoria Beckham, wearing nude coloured shoes can extend the leg, thus making them look longer. Also, i love the shape that these platform shoes give with a voluminous dress and a cinched waist. But of course, i can't shell out that much for shoes, but this is just the main idea.

i realize that I am especially vulnerable around this time of year (ahem, valentines day), so maybe this is why i find this editorial so adorable! I just got the new TeenVogue and when i saw this my heart melt! Its not that stuff you would usually find, with insane frills and pinks, but more rock n' roll, which is what i like! And the way the male model is dressed is pretty much the emobodiment of my future husband - awesome hair, cool clothes and a musician!!! ugh, Pete Doherty, move over! its all very UK.

OMG i am a huge Arrested Developments fan.... (I'm pretty much in love with Michael Cera and Jason Bateman... and Will Arnett, with his uber sexy voice!!!!!) And now there are talks about creating a movie! Maybe (haha get it?) they will finally give an answer to all the random stuff that happened in the finale. anyway, cross the fingers for this one!
I am now preparing for one of the greatest (maybe?) experiences of my life - THE SPICE GIRLS CONCERT! I usually don't get too personal on this blog, but I just want to say that I missed them the last time when it was just four of them (sans Geri). In fact, I ha tickets, but they were taken away like a cruel joke (thanks dad... lol i'm getting over it as we speak). So now retribution is mine! Anyway, I am so excited! Pictures will be taken and posted!
(CAVALLI!!!)

Where is Geri?
Yes, i am so excited to see Posh on her catwalk!
I

So i was on Sephora's webcite, trying to find something to get rid of facial scaring (i used to have severe acne, but now its under control). I have heard of harsh and gentle treatments, like lightners, brighteners, and even whiteners, but this all sounded a little Michael Jackson circa now. Then I randomly came across a brand called Rx for Brown Skin (i think its only at Sephora) and it is aimed at women of color who experience regular skin problems but have to deal with skin aliements different becuase of thier pigmentation. Since most products out there are aimed at caucasian/white women, I think it is great that this brand is tackling the needs of women of color. And the brand is targetted towards all women of color - Asian, Latino, South Asian, etc.
I am not sure what the specific differences are in skin types, but check out the website for better (and more legit) data: http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_hier

I am a girl, so it is justifiable that I enjoy award shows and the pre-award shows and all things frivilous (Betty Friedan and Emma Goldman are now rolling in thier graves). Nothing get me more excited than seeing the celebrities walking down the red carpet in gowns of all types - ugly or beautiful. I'm no Kojo (that guy on ET), but here are my faves:
My absolute favorite would be the Nina Ricci dress worn by Marion Cotillard - the Chopard diamonds didn't hurt either. I think this is how it should be done if you are going to go glam.
Angelina looked great in Hermes, but the gown did nothing to discourage rumours surrounding her pregnancy.
Now Meredith annoys me to no end in Grey's, but Ellen looked like a vision in... is it silver? Anway, the cut of the dress was perfect - expect nothing less from Nina Ricci.
Michelle toned it down in a simple Versace dress, but it was the small touches of elegance (and insanely expesive designer duds) that make this outfit red carpet appropriate.

Ashley looked youthful, but not teeny-bopper in Bagdley Mishka. Unlike her contemporary, Amanda Bynes, she was not too tanned, too cake-faced or too insane in her outfit choice. Good on ya' Ms. Tisdale (my Aussie side comes out yet again).
I have always had a soft spot for Kate, so she's on my good list. I love everything about her Balmain (I've actually never heard of this designer before!), but if her hair was styled differently, she would have been higher on my list.
Perhaps it is beucase Under The Tuscan Sun is my dream (minus the messy divorce and depression in the beginning of the movie), but Diane Lane looks awesome! I really like the cut near the bust - very Versace.

In my opinion, the best flats are by London Sole, which is a company created by Jane Winkworth from Chelsea, London. For 20 years she has been designing a variety of different shoes, but her most popular are the flats. Her collection of flats is remarkable, with every imaginable color, in leather, velvet or even flats decked out in glitter. Also, like all good shoes, these are said to be very durable and comfortable. However, there are only a few stores located in the US and UK, so ordering online is the only way to get them. Furthermore, the flats are fairly expensive, running at around $195 -$150 for flats.
Apparently its the latest trend in large, over-populated cities. This is especially popular among the fashion crowd. So if that is any incentive, you should definitely invest in a good bike (and the more vintage-looking, the better!) if you often travel short distances. unfortunately, we don't all live in Milan or the South of France where it is often warm. In any case, it is really interesting that the trend of being environmental has really picked up. However, since it is a trend, there is the possibility that being environmentally concerned will eventually be out of vogue, which is sad but true. Until then, both the overly coiffed and athletic-spandex-wearing cyclists can enjoy biking along busy streets and contributing to a greener environment.

These pictures are from the Sartorialist and he often photographs people who maintain style while on thier bikes. They look pretty effortless to me (I would be all sweaty and in track pants, but that's just me).
